We’re thrilled to support this year’s Ashland Independent Film Festival and help spotlight The Librarians, a powerful and timely documentary about the courageous library workers standing up to censorship and book bans across the U.S.
Directed by Kim A. Snyder (Newtown), The Librarians premiered at Sundance and follows real-life librarians on the frontlines from Texas to New Jersey who are defending access to books and intellectual freedom under increasing threats. The film includes passionate advocates like Army veteran Suzette Baker, who lost her job for refusing to pull titles like How to Be an Antiracist, and Amanda Jones, a Louisiana librarian who’s faced harassment and continues to speak out.
As one librarian puts it, “Our story is still being written, but now it’s everyone’s story.”
