LEARN ABOUT CONSTITUTION DAY

National Constitution Day has passed, but you can still take a moment to celebrate this pivotal moment in American history. Check out our Constitution Day display, located in the first floor Learning Commons, and learn about this important piece of our nation’s heritage. Interested patrons can also borrow educational DVDs about the U.S. Constitution from the Reference Desk.

Test your luck and enter a free drawing for a $50 gift card to Barnes & Noble (usable at the SOU Bookstore or any Barnes & Noble location). Anyone with an SOU email address can enter. The winner will be selected by random drawing, but you have to answer two quiz questions correctly.

Our 2016 Hannon Library Super Tuesday Primary has concluded with 174 votes! Here are the results:

The outcome of the poll was a win for Bernie Sanders (Dem) at 114 votes, followed by Hillary Clinton (Dem) at 23 votes and Donald Trump (Rep) at 12 votes.

Thank you everyone for your participation. The Hannon Library Government Information Department would like to encourage you to vote in the Oregon Primary on Tuesday, May 17, 2016 and in the General Election on Tuesday, November 8, 2016.

Our 2016 SOU Super Tuesday Primary has concluded

The SOU Super Tuesday is solely an academic activity to promote civic awareness. Southern Oregon University and Hannon Library do not endorse any particular candidate, political party, or ideological perspective, nor do we seek to influence actual election outcomes. We encourage civil discourse and ask participants to be respectful of all viewpoints.

Come and vote in the SOU Super Tuesday primary at Hannon Library! This Super Tuesday game will go on for the entire month of March. At the end of month we’ll tally the votes and announce the results. Visit the election display located on the first floor of the library, in front of the Reference Desk. 

It’s a great way to get yourself ready for the November 2016 election—not to mention, it’s also fun! 

And while you’re there, don’t forget to check out the display honoring Women’s History Month.

We are currently celebrating the United States Constitution in the Hannon Library. Constitution Day is usually celebrated each year on September 17th.  The Constitution Day display and drawing is located in the Learning Commons next to the front entrance stairs. Come see the Constitution Day display and test your luck by entering a drawing for a $50 gift certificate to the SOU Bookstore. Anyone with an SOU campus email can enter the contest. The winner will be the first name drawn with correct answers to two Constitution Day quiz questions. The Contest will be concluded October 16th!

As part of the Constitution day celebration we have educational materials on the Constitution including a historical DVD series and copies of the Bill of Rights and Constitution located behind the Reference Desk.
